Santoni launches intarsia sock machine with automatic toe closing

The XT Machine is designed to knit Argyle pattern socks that meet the demands of the fashion market thanks to the machine's excellent level of quality and pattern definition.

Leading Italian circular knitting machine builder Santoni SpA has launched its new unique XT Machine TC intarsia machine equipped with an integral Toe Closing Device.

A delighted Patrick Silva, Marketing Manager at Santoni said: “Our new and unique XT Machine TC machine is both unique and a world first, as it combines all of the knitting possibilities of our intarsia technology and stitch transfer technology with our integrated toe closing technology.”

According to Mr Silva, the XT Machine is specifically designed to knit Argyle pattern intarsia socks that meet the increasingly high demands of the fashion market thanks to its excellent level of quality and pattern definition.

“Both sport and technical socks can now benefit from our innovative XT Machine Toe Closing technology which combines Intarsia concepts that give special technically dedicated areas, guaranteeing superior performance, with ultra-high comfort linked toes,” Silva adds.

Santoni’s new XT Machine Toe Closing technology yields innovative knitted socks with the following technical features: 

- Compression areas with precisely positioned elastic yarns

- Sandwich terry for cushioning and protection effects,

- Mesh areas for higher ventilation and moisture control          

Each of these featured areas can have different yarns to better meet the desired customization requirements. “The XT Machine TC is such a versatile and complete machine that produces exclusive socks whilst meeting Generation 4.0 requirements for higher comfort combined with superior technical performance,” Patrick Silva says.

100 years and going strong

Santoni was founded in 1919 as the first Italian socks machine manufacturer and in 1988 it became part of the Lonati group, a world leader in the production of socks and pantyhose machines. Since then, the company has lent its name to the Seamless phenomenon, becoming a leader in the production of electronic machines for garments without seams.
