Indorama Ventures Public Company Limited has announced it has recycled more than 150 billion post-consumer PET bottles since initiating its recycling programme in 2011. This major milestone highlights the company’s dedication to advancing the circular economy and strengthening global recycling infrastructure.
Operating over 20 recycling facilities across 11 countries, Indorama Ventures now recycles 789 PET bottles every second. The company transforms this waste into high-quality recycled PET (rPET) resins and other circular materials, supporting clients in multiple industries to reach their sustainability targets.
After hitting the 50 billion mark in 2020 and 100 billion in 2023, the new milestone reflects growing demand for recycled content and Indorama’s strategic focus on expansion and innovation. Yash Lohia, Executive President of Petchem and Chairman of the ESG Council, said: “Recycling 150 billion PET bottles is more than a milestone - it reflects the power of people, purpose, and technology driving scalable, sustainable impact.”
Through its integrated approach of education, collection, and innovation, Indorama Ventures has avoided an estimated 3.8 million tons of CO₂ emissions and diverted 2.8 million tons of plastic waste from landfills and the environment.
Its Waste Hero programme has educated nearly one million people across schools and communities globally, promoting recycling awareness and sustainable habits. Collaborations with collection partners ensure a stable supply of post-consumer PET, while partnerships with advanced technology providers enhance processing and reduce environmental impact.
Looking ahead, the company remains committed to scaling up recycling capacity, enhancing innovation, and driving industry-wide collaboration toward a fully circular economy.
