Canada’s federal government is rolling out new rules that require all air travellers to wear face masks covering their noses and mouths while in transit. Transport Minister Marc Garneau announced a package of new measures on Friday that also will require passengers flying in Canada to wear masks at all Canadian screening checkpoints whenever maintaining two metres' separation from others is not possible, CBC reports. The new rules kick in today.

"If you need to travel, wearing a face covering is an additional measure you can take to protect others around you, especially in situations where physical distancing guidelines cannot be maintained," Garneau said in a statement.

Meanwhile, Toronto based ‘Textile Computing’ leader Myant, which is manufacturing PPE in the fight against COVID-19, is recommending its Myant C-200 Mask, which knitted for comfort and breathability and is the type of mask that is well suited for this use case.

Myant’s C-200 mask offers ‘a modern solution for superior protection against viruses and bacteria’. It does this by incorporating silver and copper yarns known for their antiviral and antibacterial properties.

The double-layer mask allows for the insertion of disposable filters to protect the wearer from infection. According to the company, the nylon-based mask provides a snug fit against the skin while remaining comfortable during prolonged use.
