The autumn 2025 edition of Performance Days closed in Munich on 30 October with record-breaking attendance, confirming its position as the leading business platform for the global functional textile industry. Over two days, the fair welcomed around 4,500 professional visitors and 515 exhibitors, attracting an international audience eager to explore the latest developments in sustainable performance materials.

Centred around the theme Textile to Textile – the role of recyclers, this year’s event highlighted how circularity and recyclability have become key priorities across the textile value chain. The concept was explored in the Trend Forum, through exhibitor showcases, and during presentations and discussions that underscored the industry’s commitment to reducing waste and designing for regeneration.

“The feedback we’ve received shows we’re on the right track,” said Marco Weichert, CEO of Performance Days. “Our goal is to provide two days filled with inspiration, education, and innovation – and this year we achieved that with flying colours. The energy and engagement across the halls confirmed that the fair continues to meet the needs of the modern textile community.”

Several new and expanded areas made their debut this season. The redesigned Innovation Area, developed in collaboration with the Future Fabrics Expo, offered expert insights into sustainable material development and forthcoming EU regulations. “We aim to encourage the industry to explore materials that can replace virgin polyester and conventional cotton,” said Amanda Johnston, Chief Design Officer at Future Fabrics Expo. “Our partnership with Performance Days reflects a shared mission to make sustainable innovation tangible and accessible.”

The Creative Area, led by designer and colour specialist Nora Kühner, drew strong interest from visitors with its focus on upcycling, colour exploration, and the fusion of fashion and function. Meanwhile, the Footwear Area, curated by designers Defne Yalkut and Richard Kuchinsky, provided an engaging look at developments in sole technologies and sustainability in performance footwear design.

Collaboration was a recurring theme throughout the event. The Wool Area, developed with the International Wool Textile Organisation (IWTO), Woolmark, and the Campaign for Wool, brought together industry experts to discuss technical and sustainable advances in natural fibre production. The Sustainability Lounge, co-initiated by Greenroomvoice, featured an open stand layout that encouraged dialogue among established professionals and younger designers alike.

Another major highlight was the Day 0 Conference, held ahead of the main event. The interactive, workshop-based format invited participants to explore the principle “In nature there is no waste”, promoting cross-industry collaboration. “It’s dynamic, action-packed, and full of creative energy – a place to connect and make change happen,” said Bowie Miles, session leader.

With its blend of innovation, education, and community, Performance Days continues to set the benchmark for trade events in the functional textile industry. Preparations are already under way for the next edition, taking place at Messe München on 18–19 March 2026.
