The US Fashion Industry Association (USFIA) has issued a post-election statement congratulating President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris. The organisation looks forward to efforts to help stop COVID-19 and support the economy, and a fresh approach to trade policy and to American participation in global alliances.

“On behalf of the US fashion industry, we applaud the historic number of Americans who voted in the 2020 election. Many brands and retailers supported get-out-to-vote initiatives and gave our employees time off to vote. We are pleased that the turnout on November 3rd reflects our vibrant American democracy,” USFIA said.

“USFIA congratulates President-elect Joe Biden on his election as the 46th President of the United States. We also congratulate Kamala Harris on her glass-ceiling-shattering election as the first woman, Black woman and Indian-American to be the Vice President-elect.  We look forward to working with the incoming Biden Administration and the Congress to find solutions to the challenges before us – especially solutions to stop COVID-19 and to support the economy.  We believe that a fresh approach to trade policy and to American participation in global alliances will support the recovery today and for the future.

The United States Fashion Industry Association (USFIA) represents the fashion industry: textile and apparel brands, retailers, importers, and wholesalers based in the United States and doing business globally. Founded in 1989 as the United States Association of Importers of Textiles & Apparel with the goal of eliminating the global apparel quota system, USFIA now works to eliminate the tariff and non-tariff barriers that impede the industry’s ability to trade freely and create economic opportunities in the United States and abroad.

Headquartered in Washington, DC, USFIA is a respected voice for the fashion industry in front of the US government as well as international governments and stakeholders.  “With constant, two-way communication, USFIA staff and counsel serve as the eyes and ears of our members in Washington and around the world, enabling them to stay ahead of the regulatory challenges of today and tomorrow. Through our publications, educational events, and networking opportunities, USFIA also connects with key stakeholders across the value chain including U.S. and international service providers, suppliers, and industry groups,” USFIA concludes.
