ISPO Textrends has unveiled its latest award winners for Spring/Summer 2027, recognising cutting-edge material designs that set new benchmarks for functionality, sustainability, and high performance. The programme continues to shine as a vital platform for showcasing forward-thinking sports textiles and trims that help push the industry towards circularity.
This season’s standout developments include bio-based synthetics, mono-material fabrics, and multi-functional features such as UV protection and cooling touch. The multidisciplinary jury highlighted a stronger sense of responsibility throughout the textile supply chain, with many submissions designed to support end-of-life garment considerations from the outset.
In the Base Layer category, Heilongjiang Eppen New Materials was awarded for its innovative circular knit using 76% bio-based polyamide derived from renewable plants, combined with 24% spandex. The fabric reduces fossil-based material use by around 50% and benefits from low-temperature dyeing, offering energy savings without compromising on performance. Weighing just 100gsm, its 20D Polyamide 56 yarn provides exceptional lightweight comfort.
Singtex Industrial was recognised in the Second Layer category for its Ice-Café fabric - a unique cooling jacquard that incorporates upcycled coffee grounds with nylon yarns. This delivers superior odour control, quick-dry properties, UV protection, and breathability through its crinkle-texture high-gauge jersey construction, which also ensures 4-way stretch and moisture-wicking performance.
Bosideng Down Wear Ltd took top honours in the Outer Layer segment with its BioLuxe fabric, woven with organic mulberry silk, micro-fined recycled polyamide, and recycled spandex. Its 360° stretch ensures dynamic movement while PFAS-free water repellence sheds moisture effectively. The combination of ventilation, silk’s softness, and the strength of recycled fibres demonstrates a balance of luxury and sustainability.
For Membranes and Coatings, eVent Technology impressed with its StormST 3-layer laminate. Made entirely with recycled polyester and a plant-based membrane, the fabric offers mechanical stretch, a soft feel, and a waterproof breathable barrier without PFAS. The use of C0 DWR further enhances its eco-credentials, making it ideal for high-performance outdoor wear.
In Accessories, Notape International Limited has reimagined the humble zipper with its Notape Zipper, eliminating fabric tapes through precision injection moulding. By fusing high-performance polymers directly onto garment fabrics, it removes the need for stitching or colour matching, reducing waste and rethinking closure systems for modern apparel.
The ISPO Textrends awards continue to provide valuable inspiration for brands and designers looking to integrate advanced functionality with genuine sustainability. These recognised developments demonstrate that the sportswear sector is actively embracing new ideas that reduce environmental impact while enhancing the user experience.
