Eurojersey, the leading Italian textile company, has created an enterprise that aims to show the company’s commitment to the environment. The SensitivEcoSystem environmental sustainability project will involve the Italian mountain climber Marco Confortola.

As part of this collaboration with Eurojersey, on 1 April Marco Confortola will start his two months journey to climb the Dhaulagiri peak, in Nepal, which at 8,167 metres is the world’s seventh highest mountain.

Project objectives

The Valfurva mountain climber will be the spokesperson for the Eurojersey Sustainable Enterprise taking six barrels on a journey from the Printing Department of the Company.

The barrels are used daily to contain the colours of the Eurojersey Printing Department, and will be used as suitcases while climbing in Nepal. After the expedition they will be donated to local sherpas who will reuse them for their purposes, such as water and food transportation.

The SensitivEcoSystem project aims to optimise production processes with the goal of saving resources. It also seeks to spread an awareness of our environment and promote ethical and responsible behaviour.

Teamwork and commitment

“In Eurojersey there is no concept of an individual, but only a team: everyone has to give their best to create better products. Thanks this venture we chose to trust Marco Confortola, who will achieve his goal to the peak together with Eurojersey and spread a message about respect for our environment,” commented Andrea Crespi, Eurojersey General Manager.

Marco Confortola thanked Eurojersey for its support, and said that the challenge to get people respecting nature is long overdue. “Any new venture needs gradual effort and that is exactly what the SensitivEcoSystem project is doing ,” he added.

The Italian mountain climber Marco Confortola has climbed eight of the 14 Himalayan peaks. His most important expeditions included the Share Everest expedition where he took part in the installation of the world's highest weather station at an altitude of 8000 mt on the Southern side of Mount Everest.
