Heberlein’s Textile Technology Centre in Wattwil, Switzerland, stands as a benchmark for customer support in the filament yarn industry. Equipped with cutting-edge machinery and staffed by a highly experienced team, the centre plays a vital role in helping customers navigate the challenges of producing synthetic continuous filament yarns. As the leading provider of air interlacing and air texturing jets, Heberlein ensures its clients receive expert advice on technical processes and economic efficiencies.

Samuel Gerber, Head of Textile Technology at Heberlein since 2020, leads a team whose combined experience exceeds 150 years. Together, they specialise in solving complex production challenges, often under constraints of limited resources or specific product demands. “We are the competent partner for yarn producers,” Gerber explains. “Even if customers come to us with only a yarn sample, we work until we can replicate or improve upon it.”

This tailored support includes on-site assistance. Heberlein’s service technicians bring test jets directly to spinning mills, conducting practical trials to optimise performance. These efforts aim to reduce energy and air consumption or improve yarn characteristics such as knot frequency, strength or uniformity, all without sacrificing efficiency.

At the core of Heberlein’s innovation strategy is the collaborative work carried out at the Textile Technology Centre. It’s here that customers are invited to test ideas, explore specifications and develop new yarn products alongside the Heberlein team. “We ran trials with our latest APe DTY series and achieved significant air savings,” Gerber notes, highlighting how R&D and lab teams work closely with clients to develop practical solutions.

The Centre is also home to the latest equipment for air interlacing, air covering and air texturising – mirroring real-world mill conditions. Customers can observe demonstrations, apply insights directly to their machinery, and receive detailed reports, machine settings and even fabric samples to guide their production. These services help increase profitability, enhance quality and reduce the risk of production claims.

Beyond innovation, troubleshooting remains a core strength. “Whether it’s ATY, DTY, AC, DSY or spinning issues, we support anyone in need,” says Gerber. “Our competencies in air-based yarn processing are second to none.”

Now in its 190th year, Heberlein has offered expert guidance since the 1950s. With a long tradition of technical training and workshops, the company continues to strengthen its global customer relationships. Its legacy of support, paired with modern expertise, keeps Heberlein at the forefront of the filament yarn sector.
