Karl Mayer has opened its new Textile Innovation Centre (TIC), underlining its commitment to driving textile innovation and creating new opportunities for the global textile industry. The facility brings together the latest developments in warp knitting, technical textiles and warp preparation, reinforcing the company’s core areas of expertise.

“With our Textile Innovation Centre, we are strongly focusing on textiles as the heart of our industry and the growth engine for our customers. The TIC marks a key milestone in Karl Mayer’s strategic orientation. We are investing in innovation, quality and partnership-based development so that our customers not only remain competitive but also have access to innovative textiles that open up new business areas for them,” said Lutz Wolf, CEO of Karl Mayer.

Located at Karl Mayer’s headquarters in Obertshausen, the TIC is positioned as a dedicated hub for collaboration, creativity and market-relevant textile solutions. The company describes it as a meeting place for the international textile industry, where visitors can exchange knowledge, develop ideas, produce innovative fabrics on the appropriate machinery and build valuable contacts across the sector.

In parallel with Techtextil in Frankfurt, Karl Mayer will host an opening week at the TIC from 21 to 24 April 2026. The programme will include presentations of new textile applications, guided innovation tours, expert lectures and networking opportunities.

Spanning almost 5,000 m², the TIC is described as one of the largest and most comprehensively equipped textile innovation facilities worldwide. Karl Josef Mayer, representative of the Mayer family and patron of the TIC, said the centre aims to create a renaissance in textile development by preserving and strengthening textile know-how and technology, while enabling the creation of innovative textile solutions.

Key features of the TIC include a spacious showroom and open sample archive designed to provide insight into current developments and future trends. Customers will also have direct access to Karl Mayer specialists, offering support across material, process, machine and application expertise.

The centre will provide end-to-end development support, guiding customers, fibre manufacturers and brands from initial concept through to the production of near-market prototypes using the latest machinery. It will also serve as a platform for exchange and networking across the textile value chain, described by Karl Mayer as “Connected Textile Innovation” from fibre to consumer.

In addition, the Karl Mayer Academy will become part of the TIC, expanding training opportunities for customer technicians, brand employees, Karl Mayer service technicians and textile students.

Karl Mayer said it looks forward to welcoming customers, partners and the international trade press to the TIC during the opening week in April 2026.
