Numerous Italian textile machinery manufacturers will take part in the forthcoming Colombiatex, the leading trade fair for the Colombian textile supply chain, to be held in Medellin from 27 to 29 January 2026. The event once again underlines the strong and longstanding relationship between Colombian textile producers and Italian technology providers.

Although demand from the Colombian textile sector declined during 2024, the country continues to represent one of the most important South American markets for textile machinery manufacturers. The latest figures point to a marked recovery, with Italian machinery sales in Colombia reaching €6 million in the first half of 2025, an increase of 48% compared with the same period the previous year. If this trend continues, Italian exports could approach the record levels achieved in 2022, when sales totalled €18 million.

According to Marco Salvadè, President of ACIMIT, the Colombian textile and clothing industry has shown significant growth in recent years, supported by technological upgrading in which Italian machinery has often played a leading role. He notes that for many Italian companies, Colombiatex remains a key international exhibition for reinforcing partnerships with Colombian textile manufacturers.

As in previous editions, ICE – Italian Trade Agency, in collaboration with ACIMIT, will organise a national Italian Pavilion for Colombiatex 2026, located in the Pabellon Amarillo. Twenty-two Italian companies will exhibit within the pavilion, covering a broad range of textile machinery and technology solutions. In addition, several other ACIMIT member companies will participate with individual stands or through local agents, further highlighting the strength and breadth of Italian participation at the event.
