MAS Holdings, South Asia’s largest apparel technology company, has unveiled its Plan for Change 2030, an expanded and more ambitious version of the sustainability roadmap first introduced in 2020. Building on strong progress towards its 2025 goals, the refreshed strategy is designed to accelerate transformation across the apparel industry through advances in product innovation, community empowerment, and environmental regeneration.

The new plan reinforces MAS’s commitment to measurable action, aligning all targets under three strategic pillars: Product, Lives, and Planet. It also introduces elevated ambitions, including the pledge to generate 75% of company revenue from sustainable products by 2030 - an increase of 25% from the previous target. The company’s long-term sustainability framework continues to be integrated into its business strategy with the same discipline applied to its core operations.

Over recent years MAS has made notable achievements, such as major investments in circularity partnerships with HeiQ AeoniQ and Ambercycle, recognition for disability inclusion through the Zero Project Awards 2025, and accolades for diversity and inclusion from the Reuters Responsible Business Awards in 2022. The company has also restored 25,000 acres of biodiversity across multiple regions and secured Science Based Targets initiative approval for its near-term emissions reduction trajectory, including a commitment to reach net-zero by 2048.

Yet MAS emphasises that much work remains. The evolution of the Plan for Change combines continuation of successful initiatives with expansion into new areas of focus. With 70% of the MAS workforce being women, the 2030 plan strengthens commitments around care responsibility, wellbeing, and community resilience. The company will also deepen supply chain traceability and target Scope 3 emissions while aligning with Science Based Targets for Nature to ensure accountability and measurable ecological impact.

Chief Executive Officer Suren Fernando highlighted the consistent link between business strategy and sustainability, noting that this alignment has been critical to MAS’s long-term success. Director Group Sustainable Business Nemanthie Kooragamage added that the refreshed plan is informed by science, risk insights, and future-focused thinking, ensuring meaningful transformation in apparel production, people’s lives, and planetary wellbeing.

Under the Product pillar, MAS will increase its efforts in textile-to-textile recycling, accelerate adoption of next-generation materials, and expand use of regeneratively grown natural fibres. In the Lives pillar, the company will enhance programmes supporting care equity, employee wellbeing, diversity and inclusion, and community development. The Planet pillar sets higher standards for emissions reduction, waste circularity, responsible chemistry, water stewardship, and ecosystem regeneration extending well beyond MAS’s direct footprint.

Developed through cross-functional collaboration, the Plan for Change 2030 establishes a clear, science-aligned roadmap for responsible growth. MAS positions the strategy as a catalyst not only for company transformation but also for broader industry progress, demonstrating how long-term sustainability and operational excellence can advance together.
