The Lycra Company has announced two senior leadership appointments designed to accelerate innovation and growth across its global operations. Robert Johnston has been promoted to chief operating officer from his role as executive vice president, operations, while Doug Kelliher has been appointed executive vice president, product. Both report directly to CEO Gary Smith.
Johnston, a 35-year veteran of the company and its predecessor organisations, will now oversee product development in addition to his responsibilities for global manufacturing operations and IT. His remit includes managing R&D teams, laboratory resources and pilot production to strengthen innovation across the product portfolio.
“I’m honoured to take on the role of Chief Operating Officer and help shape the future of our innovation pipeline,” Johnston said. “Our teams around the world are deeply committed to excellence, and I look forward to working across functions to strengthen our operations and advance product development.”
Kelliher will lead the product management team in developing and executing strategy across fibres, fabrics and garments. He brings more than 30 years of product leadership experience from Timberland, Velcro Companies, Polartec and Milliken & Company.
“I’m thrilled to join The Lycra Company and contribute to its legacy of innovation,” he said. “With the strength of our global team and a clear focus on differentiated products that fulfil market demands, I’m confident we can unlock new growth opportunities and deliver exceptional value to our customers.”
