Eastman’s Naia Renew fibre took centre stage at Challenge the Fabric 2025 in Milan, as the company joined the prestigious event as an official Innovation Partner. The gathering, held from 13–14 May, brought together fashion, textile and forestry leaders to spotlight man-made cellulosic fibres (MMCFs) and accelerate next-generation circularity through design.
As part of the event’s highlight CTF Award programme, Eastman Naia collaborated with emerging designer Oscar Ouyang and renowned Prato-based mill Lady V to create a forward-thinking garment using a bespoke textile blend called NAIA/WO - a custom high pile knit textile combining responsibly sourced virgin and recycled wool with Naia Renew fibre.
The fabric combines 50% RWS-certified virgin wool, 50% GRS-certified recycled wool, and Naia Renew fibre – Eastman’s sustainable cellulosic fibre derived from 60% certified wood pulp and 40% recycled content, made possible through molecular recycling.
Cristiano Vieri of Lady V described the collaboration as a natural extension of their commitment to sustainability and craftsmanship: “The fabric is finished in traditional wooden barrels, giving it a soft, luxurious lambswool hand feel without over-felting. This partnership exemplifies our shared dedication to creative and responsible fashion innovation.”
Designer Oscar Ouyang drew on both traditional and modern influences for his entry: “The versatility and sustainability of the MMCF fabric inspired me to create this shepherd’s look. It was a pleasure working with Naia’s fibre – a true balance of innovation and elegance.”
Claudia de Witte, Marketing & Sustainability Director at Eastman, praised the initiative’s focus on cross-sector collaboration: “Challenge the Fabric is more than a showcase; it’s a space for action. Seeing Oscar’s design come to life using Naia Renew illustrates the power of partnership in scaling sustainable material solutions.”
