The Swiss Textile Machinery Association, part of Swissmem, has announced a new leadership team following its general assembly held on 8 May 2025. Davide Maccabruni, CEO of Uster Technologies AG, has been elected as the new president, taking over from Ernesto Maurer, who served in the role for the past decade.

Maccabruni brings extensive industry experience and a clear vision for the future of Switzerland’s textile machinery sector. “The Swiss textile machinery industry still holds unique strengths that can secure its success well into the future,” he said. “To achieve this, however, we must focus on aligning our capabilities, working together, and supporting one another.”

In addition to Maccabruni’s appointment, the board has welcomed a new member, Martin Zürcher of Heberlein Technology AG. He joins continuing board members Beat Meienberger (Benninger AG), André Imhof (Autefa Solutions Switzerland AG), Andreas Conzelmann (Jakob Müller AG), and Ralph von Arx (Retech AG), who has been named vice-president.

Ernesto Maurer, who has been an active board member since 2011 and became president in 2015, is credited with enhancing the innovative strength and global profile of the Swiss textile machinery sector. His tenure saw increased international engagement and collaboration through a series of symposia and innovation initiatives.

The Swiss Textile Machinery Association is the oldest sector within Swissmem, founded in 1940, and currently includes 42 member companies. These range from manufacturers of textile machines and components to service providers supporting the industry. The association is dedicated to promoting innovation and professional education, as well as joint global market initiatives.

Recent international symposia organised by the association have taken place in Mexico and the United States, with a further event scheduled in Morocco later this year. These forums offer member companies a platform to strengthen international ties and showcase Swiss technological expertise.
