The fourth edition of Première Brasil, a major Latin America event for the fashion industry which ended last Thursday reporting a record number of visitors that exceeded the expectations of the promoters.

A record attendance (6,156 visits - increase of 34% compared with July 2010) of qualified buyers from Brazil and other countries witnessed the latest launches of fibres, yarns, fabrics, designs and accessories for the Autumn/Winter 2012 season.

Due to the rapid growth of the show which hosted a greater number of exhibitors (121 companies - up 38% on last year), the organizers have announced a new venue at Expo Center Norte in Sao Paolo, which will host the next Première Brasil, to be held on January 18 and 19, 2012.

"Once again, the Latin American clothing market has approved the new business format we have implemented with Première Brasil," says Riente Carolina, Show Manager of the event.

"Undoubtedly, the significant increase in the number of exhibitors and buyers is a sign that we are on track and that Brazil could become, in the short term, a trendsetter and a benchmark of quality products for the Latin American fashion designers."

According to Jacques Brunel, general manager of Première Vision Group, Brazil was chosen to host the event due to its relevance in the world market. "We want to present a cross-offer with products from all regions. Our goal is to encourage local manufacturers to develop their brand," the director explained.

For the president of ABIT - Brazilian Textile and Apparel Industry Association, Aguinaldo Diniz Filho, "Première Brasil means the opening the door for our industry. Without the apparel industry, the textile industry will not prosper," the executive said during a press conference on the opening day.

The Brazilian company Kalimo declared that the event was "excellent." They also reached the sales goals established. "This edition had a considerable growth. Visitors come to the event with the intention of doing business," says the director Jay Kalifeh.

"Covolan participates for the second time in Première Brasil precisely in a year in which the company goes through massive streamlining efforts. The trade show has certainly met our expectations. We closed deals and were visited by buyers from Italy, Chile, France, Spain, the United States and Uruguay, as well as customers who are already part of our portfolio such as Marisa, Hering, C&A, M. Officer, Carmim, among others. Première Brasil is the best trade show in Brazil. We will not miss the next edition," says Kamila Oliveira from the company's marketing department.

Buyers approve

The variety and quality of the products featured in Première Brasil are the characteristics most frequently mentioned by those buyers who attended the event, and the high level of exhibitors, organisers said.

"That was my first time in Première Brasil and I found it amazing. The level of product quality is very high," says Aparecida Leite, a clothing manufacturer from São Paulo.

Autumn/Winter 2012 Fashion Information

"More than ever, Première Vision's fashion information presented in the show proved an important tool for visitors, who have received guidance on a prospective basis, specifically designed for their market," organisers said, adding:

"In addition to meetings with exhibitors, the discovery of the Trends Forum and the Color Range wall were the key steps in the visit to the event. This unique space presented a selection of the general offers displayed in the show, organized by product families. An opportunity to identify key points of the season and the best yarns, fabrics, prints and fashion accessories."
