Under the slogan ‘Three Degrees of Natural Motion’ Nike is introducing three special edition shoes which will be available this week in Europe - the Nike Flyknit Racer, Flyknit Trainer HTM, both of which incorporate the company’s revolutionary Flyknit seamless flat knitted uppers, and the Inneva Woven a lightweight shoe with a woven upper.

Nike has been fairly unrestrained with its revolutionary Nike Flyknit releases to date, releasing its Flyknit Trainer+ and Lunar Flyknit One+ in a range of vivid colours. However the Flyknit Racer model, a shoe for real runners, seems to have been kept in reserve with just a few releases since last year’s London Olympics.

With only a few colour ways being made available to date the Flyknit Racer is the next shoe in the Nike stable to get the company’s amazing colour treatment with the launch of its Nike Flyknit Multi Colour this weekend. The show uppers look like they are knitted in space-dyed yarns which incorporate fluorescent pinks, greens, blues, purples and yellows. Multi Colour will go on sale at the Nike Stadium Milano on April 12th, followed by a release at 1948 London on the 13th.

Another Flyknit release this weekend getting the multi-colour treatment will be the Nike HTM Flyknit Trainer+, a trainer aimed at the mass market. The new multi-coloured HTM Trainer+ is the latest installment of the HTM collection, the ongoing collaboration between Fragment Design Founder Hiroshi Fujiwara, Nike design legend Tinker Hatfield and NIKE, Inc. President & CEO (and designer) Mark Parker. Since 2002, the three designers have worked together to showcase new innovations, reinterpret existing designs and explore unexpected concepts.

Other recent Nike releases with Flyknit technology include the HTM Flyknit Chukka (below), which continues to push the Nike Flyknit technology to a new level for the street.

Both Nike and Adidas are said to be counting on new running shoe technology to continue their worldwide growth, Credit Suisse analysts said this week - both brands are heavily promoting running shoes with advanced technology that will test consumers' acceptance of more expensive shoes - $150 in the US and £140 in UK.

Analysts say that retailers have shown "little resistance" to the higher priced running shoes, noting that most running shoes are priced between $75 and $100. The challenge is said to be whether or not new technologies are accepted by the consumer.
