Johnstons of Elgin has been honoured with the prestigious Outstanding Contribution Award 2025 at The Herald Scottish Family Business Awards. Now in its tenth year, the accolade celebrates the significant impact that multi-generation family businesses continue to have across Scotland, recognising organisations that combine commercial success with responsible, long-term leadership.
Judges described Johnstons as an exemplary responsible enterprise, highlighting its rare status as a Certified B-Corporation, achieved through its ongoing commitment to people, the planet and its local communities. The company’s fourth-generation leaders, siblings Neil and Jenny Urquhart, were commended for their strategic vision and their dedication to safeguarding both the heritage and the future of Scottish textile craftsmanship.
Neil Urquhart, Chair, acknowledged the collective effort behind the achievement, stating that the award reflects the contribution of colleagues, family, customers and suppliers whose skill and dedication underpin the business.
