Pontetorto is reaffirming its commitment to sustainability and circularity with the launch of its latest collection of sports fabrics, focused on the circular economy and insulation. The new range will be presented at Performance Days (29–30 October) and Functional Fabric Fair (12–13 November).

Founded in 1952, the Tuscan textile manufacturer has embedded circularity at the heart of its business strategy, transforming it from a guiding principle into a tangible practice. This approach reflects the company’s deep expertise, passion, and long-standing dedication to environmental responsibility.

Pontetorto’s textile-to-textile (T2T) model addresses one of the industry’s most pressing challenges - the disposal of vast quantities of garments produced each year. The company converts production waste into new textile fibres by recovering, sorting, cleaning, and reconverting materials during the finishing process. The resulting fully recycled fabrics are produced in line with sustainable standards.

This circular model draws inspiration from Prato’s historic textile tradition while leveraging advanced technology. It also encourages garment manufacturers to return production scraps to Pontetorto, where they are transformed into new 100% recycled fabrics, effectively closing the loop.

Since 2023, Pontetorto has strengthened its recycling initiatives through collaboration with the RENU project, developed by Itochu. RENU uses depolymerisation and purification processes to recycle discarded garments and polyester fabrics into new fibres that match the quality of virgin polyester — a step beyond conventional PET bottle recycling.

A key highlight of the new collection is its insulation range, combining thermal protection with lightweight performance. Under the Tecnowear line, Pontetorto introduces fabrics designed to replace down, blending technical fibres with luxurious materials such as cashmere and fine wools of 16 microns. The result is a fusion of innovation, comfort, and refined style.
