Seersucker fabrics remain a staple of the clothing industry, valued for their distinctive texture and market success. Just in time for ITMA Asia + CITME 2025, Karl Mayer has introduced new warp knit seersucker variants with enhanced style and surface effects, offering greater dimensionality and dynamism.

The innovation is made possible by Karl Mayer’s new 4-bar tricot machine, which will debut at the Singapore exhibition. The machine fully leverages its 2-inch shogging line to produce striking patterns. The fabric ground is created by GB 3 and GB 4, while GB 1 and GB 2 knit a core yarn featuring an elastane core with a polyamide covering. This construction enhances plasticity, protects the yarn, and optimises colouration, while a multifilament yarn adds softness and elasticity.

A key novelty lies in the use of long underlaps, enabling sweeping zigzag patterns that intersect to form large diamonds. The elasticity draws the corners together and pushes them outward, producing a bubble-like surface with strong three-dimensional character. When combined with prints, the result is a highly expressive textile that reflects the growing seersucker trend in fashion.

At ITMA Asia + CITME 2025, Karl Mayer’s four-bar tricot machine will demonstrate four patterns, including a sequence of designs, at its stand A 301 in Hall 5 of the Singapore EXPO. Visitors are invited to explore the creative possibilities of seersucker in the company’s textile showcase.
