UK-based Shelton Vision will unveil its latest machine vision technology, enhanced with deep learning AI, at ITMA Asia + CITME in Singapore from 28–31 October 2025. The innovation promises a defect detection rate above 98% and up to 100% defect classification and grading accuracy, applicable to both plain and fully patterned fabrics moving at industrial speeds.
A key feature is the stand-alone AI Classifier, adaptable for use with third-party inspection systems lacking classification or grading functions. By eliminating subjective manual decisions, it improves efficiency and throughput in fabric inspection. Shelton will also highlight optimised cut plan capabilities, designed to increase return on investment by reducing waste and shortening lead times.
CEO Mark Shelton emphasised that the system’s reliable, real-time quality data benefits the entire value chain, including brands. The company’s patterned fabric inspection system is already expanding into new markets such as outdoor upholstery and one-piece woven airbags, alongside its established camouflage printing applications.
Shelton is part of a 20-strong British Textile Machinery Association delegation to ITMA Asia + CITME 2025, which will showcase a range of advances in fibres, fabrics, testing, instrumentation, and control technologies. BTMA CEO Jason Kent said member companies are “pushing the boundaries of what’s possible” and that 2025 has been a productive year for innovation.
