Shima Seiki Italia, Italian subsidiary of a leading Japanese computerized knitting machine manufacturer Shima Seiki, will exhibit at the 79th edition of the Pitti Immagine Filati exhibition in Florence, Italy.

It will participate in the Fashion At Work section of the exhibition aimed at appealing to the technical and creative interests of visitors by providing hardware and software solutions for design, manufacturing and processing of knitted goods.

Examples of knitwear produced on its latest line of computerized knitting machines will be on display, including innovative seam-free WHOLEGARMENT knitwear, as well as new proposals in knit-weave hybrid textiles produced on the SRY series machine.

Machinery on display

On display will be the MACH2XS WHOLEGARMENT knitting machine that took the spotlight during the 20th Anniversary celebration of WHOLEGARMENT knitting at the ITMA 2015 exhibition in Milan last November.

The flagship machine features a number of technological innovations, such as Shima Seiki’s original SlideNeedle on four needle beds, as well as the company’s patented spring-loaded moveable sinker system.

Combined, MACH2XS can knit beautiful three-dimensionally shaped, high-quality Items with three-dimensional structures and details that are uniquely WHOLEGARMENT, all with very high efficiency while minimizing dependence upon labour-intensive sewing and linking, the company reports.

3D design system

Also exhibited is the latest version of Shima Seiki’s SDS-ONE APEX3 3D design system. At the core of the company’s Total Fashion System concept, APEX3 aims to provide comprehensive support throughout the apparel supply chain, integrating production into one smooth and efficient workflow from yarn development, product planning and design to production and even sales promotion.

According to the manufacturer, especially effective is APEX3’s capability to improve on the design and evaluation process with Virtual Sampling. Photo-realistic simulation capability is said to allow Virtual Sampling to minimize costly time- and resource consuming sample making while enhancing presentation quality.
