Shima Seiki Mfg., Ltd. of Wakayama, Japan, together with its European subsidiary Shima Seiki Europe, Ltd., will exhibit at Avantex, the advanced and sustainable fashion show held as part of Texworld Apparel Sourcing Paris this month.
At the Paris Le Bourget Exhibition Centre, Shima Seiki will highlight its APEXFiz subscription-based design software, which supports the creative process from planning and colourway evaluation to realistic fabric simulation and 3D virtual sampling. Virtual sampling allows designers to replace physical prototypes with digital equivalents that are precise enough for approval, significantly reducing time, cost and material waste in the product development cycle.
The company highlights that the realism of APEXFiz fabric simulation is achieved by scanning actual yarn data to produce virtual textiles with an accuracy that rivals physical samples. Fabrics including wovens, circular knits, flat knits, prints, pile weaves and embroidery can all be simulated. These can be used within APEXFiz or imported into other 3D simulation platforms to generate highly realistic product images. Once a design is approved, production data can be generated for seamless transfer to manufacturing, bridging the gap between design studios and factories.
The APEXFiz platform is complemented by Shima Seiki Online Services, which extends digital functionality through web-based tools. These include yarnbank, a digital yarn sourcing service offering downloadable yarn data from suppliers worldwide for use in virtual sampling, and Shima Datamall, a content service allowing users to browse and purchase a wide range of design and production data. Both services are free to register and aim to streamline product planning while promoting digital transformation and sustainability in fashion supply chains.
Shima Seiki will present these technologies at Avantex from 15–17 September 2025, in Hall 2, Booth P230.
Founded in 1962, Shima Seiki has become a global leader in computerised flat knitting and is recognised as the pioneer of WHOLEGARMENT technology, which enables complete garments to be produced directly on knitting machines without sewing. With more than 2,900 patents and decades of know-how, the company continues to combine machine innovation with digital solutions that support smart, speedy and sustainable production across apparel, interiors and industrial textiles.
