Shima Seiki, the leading Japanese manufacturer of computerised flat knitting technology, will exhibit at GMMSA Expo India 2026 in Ludhiana next month, alongside its Indian sales representative Universal MEP Projects & Engineering Services Ltd.
The company says its presence at the exhibition is aimed at further strengthening its position in the Indian market, with a technology lineup designed to meet a wide range of production requirements. Shima Seiki will showcase seam-free WHOLEGARMENT knitting, as well as a new shaping machine focused on high productivity and strong cost performance.

At the show, Shima Seiki will demonstrate the N.SVR183 WHOLEGARMENT knitting machine, which produces complete garments in a single piece without the need for linking or sewing. The machine is designed to knit using every other needle and is equipped with the R2CARRIAGE system and a compact, lightweight carriage intended to support high productivity. Shown in 14 gauge, the company notes the model is suited to flexible, entry-level WHOLEGARMENT production, including 7-gauge items, with versatility to respond to changing market demand.
Also being presented is the new N.SSR132, part of the company’s N.SSR series for shaped knitting. Shima Seiki describes the model as a more cost-effective option and says it will be shown for the first time in India, following positive feedback from Indian delegates at ITMA Asia + CITME 2025 in Singapore. The N.SSR132 features a compact, lightweight carriage and a maximum knitting speed of 1.2 metres per second. The machine incorporates established Shima Seiki technologies including the R2CARRIAGE system, the Digital Stitch Control System (DSCS), spring-type moveable sinker system, stitch presser, yarn gripper and cutter, takedown comb, and optional sub-rollers.

The company adds that a new 52-inch (132 cm) knitting width supports larger garment sizes and helps deliver flexibility for varying customer and market needs, while maintaining Made-in-Japan quality, safety, reliability and user-friendliness. The N.SSR132 will be shown in 14 gauge.
In addition to machinery, Shima Seiki will also highlight its SDS-ONE APEX4 3D design system and APEXFiz subscription-based design software. These tools support fashion product development from planning and design through to realistic fabric simulation and 3D virtual sampling. The company says virtual sampling can replace physical sampling, reducing time, cost and material waste, while also helping suppliers accelerate product development by leveraging their expertise in knitting and materials. Once a design is approved, automatically generated knitting data can be converted into machine data, creating a digital bridge between design studio and factory. Shima Seiki says the solutions support sustainability and the digital transformation of the fashion supply chain, with additional web services to be demonstrated at the exhibition.

GMMSA Expo India 2026 will take place from Friday 6 to Monday 9 February 2026 at the Dana Mandi Exhibition Centre in Ludhiana, Punjab. Shima Seiki will exhibit in Hall C, Booth C-11.
