Knitted apparel manufavturer ShinWon Corporation, has provided urgent support to employees affected by a series of earthquakes in Guatemala, reinforcing its commitment to community-focused corporate social responsibility. More than 150 tremors struck the San Vicente Pacaya region in July, where ShinWon’s local subsidiary, Shinwon GT, S.A., operates.
In response, the company assessed the impact on its workforce and swiftly distributed emergency relief kits to employees whose homes sustained damage. This initiative, part of ShinWon’s broader CSR approach, aims to stabilise employees’ lives and contribute to local recovery.
The relief effort aligns with the company’s 2025 CSR strategy, “Inclusive Workplace, Giving for a Brighter Tomorrow,” implemented across 15 overseas subsidiaries. Key focuses include employee engagement, support for vulnerable groups, women’s empowerment, and sustainability.
In a parallel initiative, the Guatemalan subsidiary held a women’s health campaign in late June in cooperation with the Pacaya Health Center. Medical screenings and vaccinations were provided to over 200 female employees, covering cervical cancer, hepatitis, syphilis and maternal health.
ShinWon has also extended CSR efforts globally. The company is a partner of the RISE initiative, promoting gender equality through education and system-wide change. Other ongoing programmes include support for children with disabilities, donations to orphanages, reforestation, improved workplace conditions, and crisis relief. Most recently, the company donated 4,400 clothing items to flood-affected residents in South Korea.
CEO JJ Park said: “We will do our utmost to help our employees affected by the earthquake return to their daily lives as quickly as possible. ShinWon will continue to provide real, tangible support not only to local communities but also to employees during their time of greatest need.”
With 15 subsidiaries across five countries, including Guatemala, Nicaragua, Vietnam, Indonesia, and the United States, ShinWon employs around 30,000 people globally. The company continues to advance its technological edge through investments in AI-driven analytics, 2D/3D design, and virtual reality showrooms to reinforce its leadership in the global apparel industry. ShinWon’s vision encompasses a fully vertical production process, encompassing spinning, knitting, dyeing, printing, washing, and warehousing in its production countries.
