Speedo has introduced its new Ocean Flex swimwear range, designed with Hyosung TNC’s certified recycled textile innovation. The initiative marks a significant step in the brand’s sustainability journey by incorporating lower impact material solutions that help protect the health of oceans.
Ocean Flex is made from an 80/20 blend of Hyosung TNC’s GRS-certified regen Ocean nylon, derived from discarded fishing nets, and RCS-certified regen Spandex. Independent Life Cycle Assessment data shows that producing 1 kg of regen Ocean nylon reduces CO2 emissions by 51% compared to conventional nylon.
Hyosung TNC, in partnership with mill developer Hung Yen, first introduced this innovation in 2024. Since then, it has gained the attention of global swimwear brands seeking to meet their sustainability goals.
“We’ve long valued our partnership with Speedo and are proud that such an iconic brand, committed to protecting our waters, has chosen our certified recycled textile innovation for its Ocean Flex swimwear range,” said Laura Nilo, Hyosung US Marketing Manager – West Coast Lead.
The Speedo Ocean Flex line is part of its Open Water collection and includes a women’s one-piece swimsuit, a long sleeve zip back one-piece, a racer back crop top, and a boyleg bottom, available in black and dark grey colour block designs.
