Spinnova partners with The North Face
Appointment strengthens commercial leadership as company builds partnerships and fibre ecosystem.

Spinnova has appointed Mikko Lassila as Chief Commercial Officer and a member of its management team. He will report to CEO Janne Poranen and is expected to assume his new role no later than 15 April 2026.
Lassila brings more than ten years of experience in sales leadership and commercial development. He joins Spinnova from UPM, where he held senior roles in sales and business development. Prior to this, he worked at Exel Composites, gaining further experience in industrial and materials-focused businesses.
Commenting on the appointment, CEO Janne Poranen said that Lassila’s strong commercial background and execution-focused approach will support Spinnova as it continues to develop partnerships and expand its ecosystem. He added that Lassila’s expertise will be important in unlocking new opportunities for the company.
Lassila said he is looking forward to joining Spinnova and working closely with its partners and customers. He highlighted the potential of the company’s technology and noted that the existing pilot line and demonstration plant in Jyväskylä provide a strong foundation for future growth.
Following the appointment, Spinnova’s management team will consist of Janne Poranen, CEO; Santeri Heinonen, Chief Finance and People Officer; Johanna Valkama, General Counsel; Shahriare Mahmood, Chief Product and Sustainability Officer; Juha Salmela, Chief Technology Officer; and Mikko Lassila, Chief Commercial Officer.
Spinnova is a Finland-based textile material innovation company that has developed patented technology for producing textile fibre from wood pulp or various waste streams without harmful chemicals or dissolving processes. The fibre is designed to have minimal carbon dioxide emissions and water use, while being biodegradable and recyclable.
