The 14th edition of MarediModa, the excellence underwear and beachwear exhibition will be held from 3-5 November in Cannes, featuring the starring 2017 textile and accessories collections.

More than 100 European companies will exhibit at the fair, along with a top-level delegation of fast-fashion garment makers from the Euro-Mediterranean area, which are going to offer a qualified alternative to the more exotic productions.

“We are ready to show our cards. Indeed, the next edition will be going to be richer in contents and services for our visitors. I am talking about those well-conceived essential instruments that will be made available for our visitors in the full awareness of the important role played by our exhibition. In the meantime, the new structure of the fair is what makes it new and impressive: a partially changed configuration due to the bigger exhibiting surface,” commented Marco Borioli, President of MarediModa.

Trends area

Another very unique change has been the new arrangement of the trends area, managed by MarediModa, designed and curated by a team made up of WGSN, IED (European Institute of Design) and David Shah, under the coordination of the Fair Management.

“We are very proud of our work performed in the definition and presentation of trends by involving a global partner, a worldwide known futurologist and an international network such as IED with their best teachers and students,” explained Marco Borioli. Finally, the comprehensive conference schedule will include a speech by David Shah on the topic: Does Sex Sell Anymore?

MarediModa scouting contest

MarediModa has increased its range of collections even more by standing out as the sole exhibition in the top-of-the-range beachwear and underwear textiles and accessories. Invista, the leading company in the fashion textile innovation, will be performing its marketing action and communication in Cannes this year too with the Lycra Xtra Life brand.

The 2015 edition of The Link, the talent scouting contest organized and promoted by MarediModa, has also reached its climax. This year the most qualified European fashion design schools have been granted the opportunity to participate.

"Once again the projects of this edition have been amazing for their creativity and design by featuring high-level prototypes for their original artistic concept and cutting-edge spirit. Again, THE LINK is turning out to be a quite significant event, a very precious meeting between the talent designers from the most famous fashion schools and the very fashion world that matters,” said Marco Borioli.

Beachwear trends

ESCAPE materials and prints go on a cultural journey borrowing from many different indigenous tribes, coming back refreshed and revived. Wild nature brings forth raw unfinished textures and inspires breathtaking prints. Natural materials are paired with essential design, and craft is highlighted to bring to the fore the beauty of the handmade.

The quest for wellbeing is on the rise together with the desire to disconnect. The key SENSE direction is introducing the notion of sense and sensitivity. Materials are designed to work with the body as sheer lightweight and nude tones blend seamlessly into the body.

Light is becoming a new material shaping immaterial forms and changing the way we experience aesthetics. Technology enables us to go deeper into the recesses of the earth and explore natural light technologies. Iridescent surfaces and light reflective materials drive BIO LUMINARY trend coupled with a colour palette filled with high and low contrasts.

FUTURE RETRO trend. © MarediModa

Delicate and refined, the FLOURISH trend re-introduces the notion of softness, femininity and romance with a strong focus on botanicals. Floral patterns are at the heart of design, interweaved with jacquards and lace.

Underwear trends

The nostalgia of the 70s continues to grow until reaches its peak by the Spring/Summer 2017 season. The FUTURE RETRO trend pays tribute to the happy and energetic side of the 70s where future design is an obsession, modernity is key and geometry is essential. The naive and playful aspect is transformed with a bold colour palette that serves best the optical weaves and textured surfaces.

IDOLS trend. © MarediModa

Anchored in the spirit of Rock with a rebellious spirit the IDOLS trend is at the same time progressive and sexy. Black is at the heart of the trend that focuses on all things sexy and feminine such as lace, embroidery, mesh, high stretch satin and glamorous chiffon. A bold and highly visual direction that brings back optical and geometrical lace patterns back with new architectural silhouettes.
