Arena has introduced its first swimwear collection made with bio-based and renewable elastane, marking a significant step forward in sustainable performance textiles. The Vitalife line uses the new Lycra EcoMade fibre, a breakthrough elastomer derived 70% from plant-based sources, primarily corn. The innovation offers a credible alternative to fossil-based materials while maintaining the durability and technical performance expected from high-quality swimwear.

Vitalife fabric sits at the heart of the new collection, pairing advanced elasticity with strong environmental credentials. The swimwear delivers the same stretch, recovery and resistance to chlorine, UV exposure and sun creams associated with traditional elastane, while reducing dependence on virgin fossil resources. Arena highlights this launch as part of its broader commitment to responsible innovation and a long-term vision that integrates environmental and social responsibility into its business strategy.

Designed for women who value both style and performance, the Vitalife line comprises three silhouettes: a single-shoulder option for elegant femininity, an O-back for a contemporary look, and a swim pro-back for swimmers undergoing intense training. Each design is offered in three colour combinations inspired by nature—Morocco-Valencia, Film-Stone blu, and Caviar-Valencia—reflecting earth tones, ocean depths and soft pastel shades.

Turkish freediver Sahika Ercümen, who has set multiple world records despite a childhood affected by asthma, has been named ambassador for the collection. She describes water as both therapy and challenge, crediting swimming and freediving with transforming her health and pushing her beyond her limits. Ercümen says the Vitalife line aligns perfectly with her values, celebrating water, the planet and personal well-being.

Arena CEO Peter Graschi emphasised the brand’s ongoing push toward more sustainable materials, noting that many existing products already feature recycled nylon and polyester. The partnership with The Lycra Company, he said, represents another “important step” in reducing reliance on fossil-based inputs without compromising technical excellence. The Lycra Company’s Vice President for EMEA & South Asia, Alistair Williamson, added that meaningful change requires collaboration across the entire supply chain, reinforcing the company’s commitment to lowering greenhouse gas emissions.

Positioned as more than a technical innovation, the Vitalife collection aims to encourage a more mindful relationship with sport and the natural world. The swimwear will be available online at arenasport.com from 4 December, with wider retail distribution planned for 2026.
