In response to the coronavirus outbreak, leading flat knitting machine manufacturer Shima Seiki has released knitting data for various mask styles to all of its machine customers in an effort to provide solutions during the pandemic.

“Unlike other knitters that modified our data, our friend Lysanne Latulippe from String Theory, based in Montreal, Canada, inspired by the sample decided to develop her own knitting data to create masks for the general public on her SSR knitting machine,” Shima Seiki USA announced on its website.

String Theory develops unique textile designs and produces limited knitwear from its Montreal studio. Since 2010 the company’s collections have been distributed throughout Canada and the United States in museum shops and independent boutiques focused on local production.
