Toray Industries (H.K.) Ltd. and MAS Holdings have announced the formation of a joint venture, Toray MAS Apparel India, to establish a new manufacturing facility at the MAS Apparel Park in Bhuinpur, Odisha, India. The park, which broke ground in March 2025, is scheduled to begin operations in early 2026.
The partnership combines MAS Holdings’ position as South Asia’s largest apparel manufacturer with Toray’s advanced materials expertise, aiming to strengthen supply chain capabilities and address growing demand for high-quality textile solutions in India.
The official signing ceremony took place in June at MAS Holdings’ head office in Colombo, attended by Teruo Funahashi, Managing Director of Toray Hong Kong, and Suren Fernando, Group Chief Executive Officer of MAS Holdings.
“Toray MAS Apparel India will contribute to local employment and economic growth by manufacturing advanced, top-quality offerings,” said Funahashi. “The company will serve as a garment stronghold in India, reinforcing our partnership with MAS Holdings.”
Fernando added: “This joint venture marks a significant step in strengthening our global supply network and deepening our partnership with Toray Industries. The Odisha facility will play a key role in supporting our customers’ evolving needs, driving innovation and contributing to regional development.”
The new facility will integrate renewable energy solutions, energy-efficient technologies, and advanced water and waste management systems. It is also being designed with universal accessibility and environmentally responsible practices in mind, aligning operations with sustainability and social responsibility.
