Coats Digital has announced that VTL Group, one of the largest vertically integrated textile manufacturers in the Mediterranean region, has implemented its GSDCost solution across its Tunisian operations, achieving a 15–20% reduction in standard minute values (SMVs) and a 10% increase in production line output.
With more than 5,000 employees and 3,000 sewing machines across 90 lines, VTL Group produces around 20 million garments annually from jersey knits and denim for global fashion brands including Lacoste, Adidas, G-Star, Hugo Boss, Replay and Paul & Shark. By adopting Coats Digital’s GSDCost, the company has standardised production methods and improved pricing accuracy, enhancing its competitiveness in global markets.
Before implementing the solution, VTL relied on manual Excel-based time catalogues, which led to inconsistent and inaccurate cost estimates. This occasionally resulted in lost contracts, margin erosion and operational inefficiencies. “Before GSDCost, we struggled with inconsistent operating times that directly impacted our competitiveness,” said Hichem Kordoghli, Plant Manager, VTL Group. “We’ve already seen up to 20% reductions in SMVs, a 10% rise in output, and improved customer confidence. It’s a game-changer for our sales and production teams.”
Since deploying GSDCost across 50 sewing lines, VTL has established a reliable baseline for production planning and line efficiency monitoring. This has enabled more accurate forecasting, improved cost control and a more flexible approach to pricing. The company plans to extend the rollout to an additional 30 lines in 2025, supported by further training to embed best practices.
