After being postponed in March due to the pandemic, the upcoming JEC World 2022 will now take place from 3 to 5 May at Paris Nord Villepinte as an in-person event. In addition, the JEC World Connect digital platform will also provide an online presence. The industry-leading international exhibition regularly brings together the entire value chain of the composites industry and is eagerly awaited this year since it was cancelled in 2020 and then held as an online-only event in 2021.

As an exhibitor, Karl Mayer Technische Textilien is looking forward to exchanging ideas with its customers at stand Q 64 in Hall 5, where presentation highlights will include solutions for composites made from natural fibres.

“We have been focusing on this topic for about two years. Since in-person exhibitions were cancelled in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic last year, we’re only just getting an opportunity to show our samples and example products now. We are looking forward to premiering our new developments,” said Hagen Lotzmann, Sales Manager at Karl Mayer Technische Textilien.

In Paris, he and his team will present a snowboard made from a non-crimp fabric produced using flax fibres on the COP MAX 4 multiaxial warp knitting machine. As a renewable raw material, flax is a sustainable alternative to glass and carbon. While glass and carbon fibres are firmly established in the composites sector thanks to their performance properties, they can only be manufactured using a great deal of raw materials and energy.

Karl Mayer Technische Textilien will also be exhibiting reinforcement solutions made from tried-and-tested high-performance fibres at JEC World 2022, including high-quality carbon non-crimp fabrics manufactured on a COP MAX 5 for aircraft and automotive construction, and warp-knitted fabrics with weft insertion from the WEFTTRONIC II G, which is currently setting trends with its products – particularly in the construction industry. The SIM.PLY UD is another exhibition highlight - The unit efficiently produces fibre composite tapes with continuous fibre reinforcement and thermoplastic matrix systems while operating with uninterrupted process control, thereby offering extremely high production speeds.

In addition to Karl Mayer Technische Textilien, Stoll will also be exhibiting at JEC World for the first time as another member of the Karl Mayer Group. The Reutlingen-based flat knitting specialists are keen to exhibit their 3D-shaped knits with specific material use, shaped knitted textiles with specially localised reinforcement and knitted items made using glass, thermoplastics and high-strength fibres. What’s more, low-cut textiles are an important and sustainable topic Stoll will explore in Paris.
