Report summary

This report examines general trends and provides analyses of the international fabric machinery market. 2015 was a mixed year for producers of fabric machinery. Shipments of electronic flatbed knitting machinery reached a record high in 2015.

This was due primarily to growth in shipments to the textile industries in the three largest markets, namely China, Bangladesh and India. Furthermore, shipments of shuttleless looms were up for the first time since 2011 and were higher than their annual average over the ten years to 2015.

However, shipments of hand knitting and semi-automatic flat knitting machinery ceased entirely in 2015 while shipments of single jersey machinery fell to their lowest level since 2003. Shipments of double jersey machinery also fell in 2015 although they were still at their second highest level on record.
