From 2 to 4 September 2025, Yarn Expo Autumn will return to the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai, inspiring international engagement and sustainable exchange between global yarn and fibre players. Building on its strong reputation, the last edition attracted around 540 exhibitors and nearly 22,000 buyers from 81 countries and regions, proving its value as a vital sourcing and networking platform for the entire upstream textile industry.

Taking place alongside Intertextile Apparel, the show will highlight the growing demand for sustainable and functional yarns and fibres, reflecting the textile sector’s shift towards more responsible sourcing. With population growth, a surge in sportswear demand and global socioeconomic development, the yarn, fibre and thread market is projected to reach USD 138.8 billion by 2029, with sustainable production an increasing priority.

Ms Wilmet Shea, General Manager of Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd, said: “Fostering innovation, sustainability and collaboration in the yarn and fibre sector is vital, since these elements play a crucial role in the sector’s advancement. We are highly committed to providing an international platform that supports industry growth, and meets the demands of today’s world, especially amid geoeconomic uncertainty. Yarn Expo is poised for continued success, backed by robust resources and a business-friendly reputation, and we look forward to celebrating new opportunities this autumn.”

Exhibitors and visitors alike continue to appreciate the show’s focus on functional and eco-friendly yarns. At the last edition, Mr Shailesh Jain, Director of Shanti Rayons India Pvt Ltd, said: “I have found good collections and valuable contacts here, also discovering new products and technologies which I have not seen before. Yarn Expo is doing a great job promoting sustainability. I took some samples of a Chinese yarn made from seaweed today, which I plan to buy when I return to India. The fair’s fringe events, such as the trend forum, are beneficial to us as visitors.”

Mr Karuna Changmai, Vice President and Global Sales Head of Thai Acrylic Fibre Co Ltd, also praised the fair: “Rooted in Shanghai, the fair also attracts many international visitors. Yarn Expo emphasises sustainability, featuring many exhibitors dedicated to green initiatives, which is crucial for the future of the fashion industry. It is the right platform to promote such products, observe industry practices, and potentially collaborate with others.”

China remained the world’s largest exporter and importer of textile yarns in 2024, alongside India, Italy and Türkiye, reflecting continued strong sourcing links that Yarn Expo Autumn is well placed to support. The upcoming edition will run concurrently with Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics – Autumn Edition, CHIC, and PH Value, and align with Cinte Techtextil China at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre from 3 to 5 September, offering industry-wide synergy and expanded opportunities for exhibitors and buyers.

Yarn Expo Autumn is organised by Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd and the Sub-Council of Textile Industry, CCPIT.
