More than 300 technical experts and decision makers from the Indonesian textile industry met with almost 100 delegates from the German textile machinery industry and their agents at a two day conference in Jakarta on the 16th and 17th April, organised by Germany’s VDMA Textile Machinery Association.

Algodonera del Valle is a vertically-integrated textiles operation with headquarters in Buenos Aires, which has developed into one of the largest textile companies in Argentina by continual investment in spinning, knitting and finishing, over the past few decades. The family-run enterprise is specialized in the manufacture of soft knitting yarns for the domestic market and a good cooperation with textile machinery manufacturer Rieter is an important component for its success.

Italian protective fabrics producer Argar Technology, a division of Argar S.r.L, has launched three new flame retardant (FR) fabrics ranges which it will be showcasing along with its current range of innovative products at this year’s leading technical textiles exhibitions – Techtextil 2013, and A+A Safety, Security & Health At Work 2013.

This video was made by Robert Newton a TV documentary producer whose family were in textiles in North Carolina for generations. Newton got the idea for the documentary after he found himself constantly correcting people who said that the textiles industry in NC state was dead. It’s a full blown TV documentary which lasts 30 minutes but its well worth watching.

Fountain Set (Holdings) Ltd, a global leader in the manufacture of circular knitted fabrics, has published its final results for the sixteen months ended 31 December 2012*, which show a loss of HK$324.2 million.

Innovative German technical textiles producer Riedel Textil has introduced a new range of seamlessly knitted tights called KinesioTight, which have been scientifically developed to both improve sports performance and protect against injuries. Developed in cooperation with sports and medical experts, KinesioTight is said to integrate the effects of the well known Kinesio Tape Method of treatment into functional sportswear.

Painters and decorators are set to benefit from a new seamless knitting innovation after a US based high-pile circular knitter won an award for developing and manufacturing a seamlessly knitted collapsible paint roller which is said to be superior to existing products already in the market. Monterey Mills Inc. of Janesville, Wisconsin was awarded the William Cordes Innovation Award by the American Brush Manufacturers Association (ABMA) for its sliver knitted innovation which is creating strong interest with leading paint roller manufacturers.

German circular knitting machine builder Terrot will be present at this summer’s Shanghaitex exhibition were it will exhibit along with its partner Terrot Hongkong Ltd from 10-13 June. The well established show is highly instrumental in promoting the upgrading and transformation of China’s textiles and clothing industry.

Italian knitter Piave Maitex’ research into technical fabrics has found new expression with the creation of its new PM Eclisse range of high opacity polyester fabrics for sports and active wear.
