On Thursday, January 17th, Aquafil acquired 100% of the shares of Borgolon S.p.A., European leader in the production of Solution Dyed Polyamide specialty yarns.

The Borgolon factory in Varallo Pombia (Novara-Italy) employs a staff of 75 and produces more than 3000 tons/year of special yarns which also undergo transformation (texturization) on the same premises. Managing Director of Aquafil, Dott. Giulio Bonazzi, explains: “the take- over is part of the strategy to reinforce Aquafil’s position in the European market for polyamide yarns and is perfectly in line with the objective of satisfying the need for a wide range of products, Quality and Innovation, expressed by the most demanding users in Italy and in Europe.”

Dott. Bonazzi points out that the Borgolon brand (Solution Dyed Polyamide Yarns) and “Microlon” (Solution Dyed Microfilament Polyamide Yarns) will continue and be strengthened.

“The market knows and appreciates Borgolon brands and products, identifying them as “the brand” for “Solution Dyed” polyamide textile yarns. Aquafil, European leader in the production of polyamide yarns for textile floor coverings (Moquette), has always believed and invested in the value and potential of “Solution Dyed” technology which, further to the extraordinary advantages of solid colours and processing cost saving , offers to every users in the clothing and flooring sectors evident and increasing advantages from the sustainability stand point, as the production cycle , from raw materials to the finished product, has far less impact on the environment.”

Further to the production of special yarns for the textile/clothing sector, which Borgolon acquisition will further strengthen, and where Aquafil has recently invested more than 25 million Euro in its Ljubljana (Slovenia) plant, the Arco di Trento based Company produces in it’s manufacturing facilities worldwide more than 60 thousand tons / year of carpet yarns, where the percentage of Solution Dyed yarns (mostly sold under the “Alto Chroma” brand name) has reached 50%, and is growing steadily.
