Exactly one year after launching at ispo Winter 2008, many leading sports and outdoor brands are already incorporating Advansa’s Thermocool thermo regulating fibre into their collections, which are on show at ispo Winter 09 this week, the company said today.

Born out of the experience and years of study on human thermoregulation from the privileged platform of profiled cross section products, Thermocool consists of a unique blend of fibres inside the yarns that interact with the wearer. The hybrid fibre mix provides dual functionality. Firstly, when the user is hot and perspiring, the fabric provides evaporative cooling, keeping the user cool and comfortable. Secondly, when the user is cold and shivering, the fabric reduces the exposure impact with external temperatures, keeping the user warm and thermo regulated. Advansa says that, for customers concerned about the environment, Thermocool is also available in an ECO version that uses a polymer made from renewable resources, instead of traditional petrochemical derivates. In the case of Thermocool the renewable resource is corn.

Gerard Illeras, Sportswear Segment Manager of Advansa enthused on Thermocool’s progress in the market: “The reaction of the market is fantastic. We are very pleased that, in the first year many leading brands are already presenting Thermocool n their collections and having commercial garments.” According to Advansa, the well-known name for functional sports fashion Medico and famous brand for technical wear TAO, both located in Germany and specialized on maximum quality and function, have the Thermocool thermoregulating brand in their new collection.

Advansa says that leading Czech Republic sports and outdoor company Alpine Pro is finding in Thermocool, the perfect combination for body temperature regulation. Spanish functional garments specialist Lurbel apparently switched their production to ECO due to its thermoregulation properties and unique softness, and combining functionality and sustainability in one yarn. Other companies including Grifone from Spain have used Thermocool in their collections to offer maximum thermoregulation to the user of the garment. Italian Sock manufacturer Nemar, specialized in high quality socks and investing in new developments, is offering Thermocool in their new line 4Perform.

Thermocool is also becoming a hit in fashion markets according to Advansa: “The product is of high interest for ready-to-wear, corporate wear, fashion and sports-lifestyle”, said Silvia Toledo, Ready-To-Wear Segment Manager at Advansa.

Club of Comfort have Thermocool in their collection offering maximum thermoregulation properties and extra comfort to the user of the garment and luxury fashion knitwear brand Pringle Golf have also included Thermocool in their collection of fleece garments. Glenmuir Golf also uses the thermo regulating brand in its line of golf wear, launching a a piqué polo shirt for Spring/Summer 09. Eschler GmbH, Feinjersey, Fieratex, Pontetorto, Orneule Oy, Sintex, Textile Tech and Unique Way have all developed knitted fabrics using Thermocool and yarn supplier Stöhr is producing a Thermocool yarn with wool.

Thermocool is already well known amongst the Formula 1 fraternity, the biggest spectator sport on earth. Formula 1 selected Advansa’s Thermocool fabric for the official licensed garment collection. Advansa claims it was chosen to provide the hidden performance inside the F1 garments, which is now used for the Fernando Alonso garment and Replica collection as well as for the official staff uniforms of the ‘A1GP Powered by Ferrari’.

Visitors to ispo winter 09 will have the chance to race at high speed in an original Formula 1simulation car which will be close to the Thermocool booth at ispo BrandNew Village.

Elsewhere in the sporting world, Thermocool and Buff will be joining together to sponsor the Extreme Raid Team that will be competing again in 2009 in the Raid World Championship. Some of the activities in the world championship are cross-orienteering, mountain biking, canoeing, sea-kayaking, trekking, rope activities, canyoning, caving, snow-shoeing, ski touring, ride and run.

Advansa says that in recent years the teams’ competition clothing was made of Coolmax fabrics, which were meeting needs and providing maximum evaporative cooling to the athletes. With the new Thermocool collection team will be equipped with multifunctional garments, which will adapt to their needs, providing evaporative cooling or thermo-buffering functions as needed.
