Italy's Cariaggi Fine Yarns Collection, the prestigious Marche based yarn manufacturer which specialises in cashmere, vicuña, cervelt and superfine wools, will be launching its collection for A/W 2012-13 at the forthcoming Pitti Filati event in Florence.

Bywords for the new collection are said to be style and elegance and the colour palette is based on a series of subtle, understated shades, with delicate hues designed to refocus attention on the true meaning of luxury.

The key trends are based around vivid, glossy shades of pastel grey, intense colours and darker, colder hues with natural overtones. Last but not least, there are flashes of ultra-brights. Sources of inspiration for the new palette are cold, frost and icy water.

Exquisite jewels

The A/W collection 2012-13 is said to stand out for its creativity, new interpretations and innovative combinations of fibres and yarns. The aim is to explore new possibilities in style and technique.

In this context, one of the innovations for winter is Perle, a fine yarn which Carriaggi says oozes elegance, lightness, transparency and shine. "Exceptional cashmeres (70%) and silks (30%) are embellished with delicate, barely-visible glass beads, exquisite jewels which, as if by magic, turn the yarns into a shower of iridescent rain," the Italian spinner says, adding:

"Striving as always to create surprising new effects, Cariaggi has used special techniques to insert the beads into the yarns, ensuring that the cashmere is as soft on the skin as ever. Perle is the yarn which turns the finest knitwear into sophisticated evening gowns. It will be available in a series of classic colours and timeless mélanges."

Misty Autumn inspiration

Brume is another of Cariaggi's new creations. This yarn is inspired by misty Autumn landscapes and frosty mornings. Its unique design makes it possible to combine silk and cashmere, producing perfect multilayered softness embellished with a slightly glossy finish. The overall effect is said to be one of both comfort and elegance. "The colour palette features a perfectly balanced choice of nine natural shades inspired by plants and minerals," Cariaggi says.

Soft as a cloud

Finally, Nuage, a yarn which Carriaggi says is as light and soft as a cloud, and one which captures all the warmth and sensuality of a silk-cashmere blend. "Nuage stands out for its hand-finished gloss effect, making the surface of each garment a sheer dream to touch," the Cagli based company says.  In keeping with Cariaggi's reputation for luxury, Nuage comes in 15 natural ‘colourless' shades, highlighted by a pure red for special occasions.

Thermal bonding

At Pitti Filati Cariaggi will play a leading role in a showcase organised by BOND-IN, an innovative project which focuses on thermal bonding technologies, in conjunction with the designer Pierluigi Fucci.  Thermal bonding is applied to the world of knitwear with unusual combinations of different materials, textiles, accessories and applications. Cariaggi's fine cashmere will be used in inventive and unexpected ways as part of the project.
