US based Buhler Quality Yarns is to launch Lenzing’s MicroTencel, a 0.8 denier lyocell microfiber at Globaltex which opens later today in Los Angeles. The new development which will be manufactured in Austria and will be available in the United States through Buhler Quality Yarns will also be showcased at the LA Textile Show from 15-17 March. MicroTencel will be first launched in seamless and circular knits and will be marketed under Buhler Quality Yarns 3B’s: Best yarns, Beautiful fabrics and a Better footprint.

“MicroTencel has the inherent performance features of strength, moisture transfer and the natural inhibition of bacterial growth while providing superior softness and comfort. The new yarn, available in 20/1’s to 60/1’s, includes finer count yarns than have been previously available,” says Buhler Quality Yarns.

Buhler Quality Yarns says it will use the newly developed yarn counts for the development of stronger lightweight fabrics and entry into new markets and will provide technical support to help create beautiful fabrics from construction through wet processing.

Buhler says that MicroTencel is in the forefront of sustainable fibre technology as it is made of Forestry Stewardship Council (FSC) certified pulp from Eucalyptus wood and utilizes a non-toxic solvent in a proprietary closed loop process that has won environmental awards. It is Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certified and can be dyed using less dyestuffs, water and sodium for a better footprint throughout the entire development process, the company says.

Since 1858 Hermann Bühler, Buhler Quality Yarns’ parent company, has produced yarns for customers with the highest requirements. The company says that innovative products, excellent yarn quality and perfect customer service are the most important goals in its business. Buhler Quality Yarns Corp., USA was established in 1996 and is a leading supplier of fine-count yarns in the USA.

Lenzing is an international group with its headquarters in Austria, production sites in all major markets and a global network of sales and marketing offices. Lenzing provides the global textile and nonwovens industry with high-quality cellulose fibres.
