German company Dastex, a supplier of cleanroom products, has recently launched a range of cleanroom underwear made with Coolmax fresh performance fabrics.

"A work area in which the air quality, temperature and humidity are precisely regulated in order to protect sensitive equipment from contamination, special cleanroom garments that demonstrate specific technical and functional characteristics are more than essential for the protection of the product from particulate and microbiological contamination from humans in a controlled environment," says Advansa, manufacturer of Coolmax fresh fibre.

"It is an absolute requirement, that not only outer garments but also the underwear is designed to ensure protection against contamination by people. Various researches had proven the importance of special underwear under the cleanroom garments, which reduce significantly the risk of contamination of the products," Advansa adds.

According to Advansa, a recent study has shown that with the use of polyester fabrics, contamination from fibre and particles can be reduced more than 50%. "This is why Dastex has chosen the performance fabrics Coolmax fresh. The individual designs of the cleanroom underwear with Coolmax fresh ensure optimal fit and functionality and provide high comfort for the wearer thanks to the excellent moisture management and odour control," Advansa says, adding:

"A soft touch and new designs improve the sensorial comfort so that more and more companies, especially in car, electronic, pharmacy and food industry are willing to introduce these new performance garments. An active antimicrobial durable and non-migratory ingredient - silver ions- is inserted in the polymer during the manufacturing of the engineered fibres for Coolmax fresh."

"This ingredient has been proven to be highly effective against a wide range of microorganisms and is significantly inhibiting the growth of bacteria and prevents so the unpleasant perspiration odours."

Advansa says that Coolmax is a high-performance fabric that helps to improve comfort and freshness of people who wear it by moving perspiration away from the body towards the exterior of the fabric, where it evaporates quickly.

The ‘evaporative cooling' effect aims to help keep the wearers feel cool and comfortable and help them to concentrate better or work longer, even under tough working conditions. Coolmax fabric is made from with specifically engineered fibres with a 4- or 6-channel cross-section, giving an increased surface area.

The high-tech fibres transfer moisture quickly to the textile surface and ensure that moisture evaporates fast, thereby helping to maintain a balanced body temperature.
