Karl Mayerhas developed a new TM 4 machine for  its fourbar tricot machine range, which is the basic version of the HKS 4 and HKS 4-M EL high-tech machines, offering a mid-range machine with four guide bars at an attractive price.

The new machine complements the TM series and, with its focus on the production of plain fabrics, also complements the TM 4-T– the specialist machine for producing terry fabrics.

Technical features

The TM 4 is based on the same technical platform as the TM 4-T, and just like the fourbar terry warp knitting machine, is available with N or ELpattern drive. The working width of the new machine is 180" and gauges E 28 and E 32 are available. A 4x32" beam frame is used to supply the yarns.

Many TM 4 options enable it to suit the requirements of any particular application, says Karl Mayer. For example, the special features that can be selected include the possibility of extending the working width by 6", the Laser Stop system, a scanner and a spreader. Batching units no. 6 and no. 34 B are available for taking-up the fabric.

With its specific technical configuration, the TM 4 is said to offer an exceptional price:performance ratio. The key features of its performance include a maximum speed of up to 1400rpm, ease of operation, and a high product quality – a performance profile that makes this new machine particularly interesting for producing plain fabrics for outerwear and sportswear.

The TM 4 is also opening up new possibilities in the semi-technical textiles sector and is expected to appeal to producers of shoe fabrics and automotive textiles in particular.

Market launch

Both the TM 4 and the TM 4-EL have been in Karl Mayer’s catalogue since March 2013. The first delivery of the version with N-pattern drive is scheduled for August, and the version with EL-pattern drive is scheduled for delivery in September.

According to the company, the market has reacted with great interest to these new machines, following the presentation of the TM 4-EL at this year’s ShanghaiTex fair. This new addition to the TM series was producing a shoe fabric during the fair, demonstrating all its performance capabilities.
