UK based Wykes International Ltd has launched two brand new yarn developments for stretch knitwear; an ‘invisible' low power plating yarn and a new combining process for producing composite stretch yarns.

No more dye to match

BILOREX 7338 is a new ultra low power plating support yarn, which has been developed to give shape retention and a soft hand to very sheer fabrics.

"As the yarn is only 30 Denier in count it is invisible in use and precludes the need for dye to match for most of the shade range," says Wykes International's Sales Director Mick Siddons.

Advantages cited for BILOREX 7338 are:

  • Much lower fabric weights possible with good recovery
  • Excellent shape retention and dimensional stability after multiple washings
  • Sheer and light weight fabrics and pointelles with open holes in any fibre
  • No dye to match normally required (low waste and no residues)
  • Dye to match available in China
  • Very low garment to garment size variability
  • Garment dye able at 100°C
  • Yarn dye able at 100°C
  • Long shelf life

Other Bilorex products available from Wykes International are:

  • Bilorex 7305 - High Power - For shape retention and to reduce drop in coarse gauge heavy knit garments
  • Bilorex 7323 - Normal Power - For shape retention in coarse to mid gauge fabrics
  • Bilorex - 7322 - Low Power - For classic weights and stretch with most fibres

No more plating

Wykes International has launched new yarns for stretch knitwearSPINAREX is a newly patented production method making stretch knitting yarns that produce fabrics with the same technical properties as fabrics plated with Bilorex 7338. SPINAREX yarns are currently commercially available in cotton and blends from Texwinka -Nice Dyeing and merino and merino technical blends from Sudwolle and Biella yarns.

"Knitting machine speeds can be raised by up to 40% when producing seamless knitwear. SPINAREX opens up new markets for stretch knitwear in jacquard and intarsia patters," explains Mick Siddons.

Advantages cited for SPINAREX yarns are:

  • Up to 40% higher machine speeds
  • Facilitates stretch jacquard/intarsia and pointelle
  • Single product purchase - low waste
  • Can be yarn dyed from ecru composite yarn stock
  • Can be knitted ecru and garment dyed

Sustainability

"BILOREX yarns and the new SPINAREX process have removed the need for face and plating yarns to be dyed separately, significantly reducing the amounts of water and energy used and the inevitable waste from residual yarn imbalances," adds Mick Siddons adding:

"These two new developments which are already in the market with some of our customers are very exciting developments and we look forward to a new era in the development of stretch knitwear."
