SS2011 Colours 1Leading Italian spinner of worsted yarns for knitwear,  Zegna Baruffa has released details of its Chiavazza, Baruffa and B-Exclusive lines for Spring-Summer 2011, in the run up to Pitti Filati, which is being held at the Fortezza Da Basso in Florence from 27-29 January.

YARNS S/S 2011

The classic yarns are joined by more elaborate products in refined blends, “only natural” fibres coexist in harmony. Product quality, comfort and wellbeing are at the forefront for the season.

Fabulous cashmere creations

Chiavazza cashmeres for a beautiful summer

These form part of a complete line of Carded Cashmeres, which enrich the Zegna Baruffa Lane Borgosesia range; products that have been fine-tuned with great passion and experience, top quality yarns that have undergone continuous technological improvement to reach today’s high standards (arriving at the 2/60,000 count of Cashmerelight).

These represent beauty in action, an immediate return to basic aesthetics.

With perfectly smooth surfaces in dark and golden colours, summer becomes the season of beauty: intangible laces with attractive motifs, hands that move smoothly across surfaces, featherweight transparencies.

B-Exclusive worsted cashmere

The “B-Exclusive” line includes Worsted Cashmeres with very fine counts: the richness and preciousness of products made from extremely fine elegant raw materials transformed into exceptional yarns.

Cashmere with “brilliant”, satinised surfaces, smooth and with soft hands, combine elegance and comfort for impeccable looking clothes worn directly on the skin.

A passion for the warm tones of wood, chocolate, bronze, and ecru, but also natural white and sunny yellow.

Focus on perfection – superfine wools:  “wafer thin…..”

Thin and extremely light wools, flexible like never before, envelop the body with highly delicate knits. The creamy white, soft pink and pale pink with sand make them even more transparent and intangible.

It is the Super Extra Fine Wools in micron selections increasingly similar to those of cashmere (120’S: 17.5 micron, 140’S: 15.5 micron and 200’S: 13.5 micron of the Limited Edition) that result in highly prestigious and perfect yarns, 100% natural and extremely fine.

The choice of excellent and uncommon raw materials, via a rigorous selection process, guarantees unrivalled results in terms of hand, the appearance of the yarn, and the fineness of the knitwear garment.

“All season ” yarns, the ideal all-purpose solution for breaking down the barriers of the seasons.

The micron selections are always particularly fine, going right through to the 13.75 microns of the Limited Edition 200'S.

Lingerie is rediscovered with drapes and plissés with a romantic touch: the "couture" side to the collection.

Denim sablé effect

SS2011 Colours 2The fading of strong colours on transparent and fluid yarns is the result of the sablé effect.

The denim trend and used look, which bring to mind the vintage charm of aged and precious fabrics, defines the quality and preciousness of the yarns in luxury and complex blends with silk.

The Sablé portfolio sees new interpretations of the yarns; with their vintage effect, the Antheus, Cashsilk, Savile and Diamante yarns highlight precious and artisanal aspects, and provide fashion designers with an original material.

Silk is therefore the star of the show with its shine and craquant hand, ever so slightly “dirtied” during the dyeing phase.

With a nod to the 70’s, strong colours at times combined with natural tones, from sunny orange to brilliant fuchsia, the silks speak the language of the flowers.

Linen and cotton

Eco-compatible, some inspired by the rustic, others pure and simple.

They become creative in blends for wool/linen mouliné effects and in knitting stitches for the Miranda cloth, or are used to create extremely fine and wavy surfaces. The imperfections of the linen underline a modern rusticity.

The open wefts of the silk/linen and linen/cotton, the twists with viscose–Bering - shiny/ matte effect, have a wet and translucent character.

The pure linen and silk ribbon – Noblesse – combined with the highly sophisticated Royal gauze imitate handmade fabrics. (Chiavazza Line).

Loose but compact hand in the Safari, rigid in the Premium cordonnet, ruffled and sanded in the extra-twisted cottons, such as the Sand.

Pure linen in its simplest form, the Venere, smooth and softened by washing, is opaque, improves in tactility when coming into contact with water, and creates hazy shades when manipulated.

High-performance ‘friendly-tech’ wool

Certified organic Ecowool is “friendly-tech”: because it is soft and pleasant, and because its intrinsic properties make it a high-performance fibre, without any need for chemical treatment.

This “friendly-tech” wool is eco-compatible in all processing phases: rearing techniques are attentive to the protection of the environment and respect for biological cycles. The transformation phase used to develop the yarn is produced with biological and biodegradable systems, without any use of chlorine. Dyeing takes place in full respect of Oeko-Tex standards. The finishing  is carried out with natural products, such as aloe.

The colour of Supermelange  technology

Supermelange is the technology used by Zegna Baruffa to obtain perfect melange colours.

Supermelange is a blend of colours, it is the richness and depth of tones. The result is nuances that are impossible to obtain using traditional techniques, a new way of conceiving colour, richer and even more flawless.

This technology was applied to yarns such as Cashwool® (19.5 micron) - Millennium (17.5 micron) - Excellence (pure worsted cashmere 2/60)

Cashwool  19.5 micron

Cashwool is a product of international renown, a synonym for quality and innovation in the spinning and knitwear sector. Created from the selection of Extra fine Australian Merino wools according to strict qualitative parameters and innovative production processes, it stands out for being as shiny as silk and as soft as cashmere.

Cashwool is a unique Merino and has been used by top knitwear producers all over the world for over 30 years.

Cashwool has a very rich stock service of plain colours, Melange, Mouliné and Supermelanges.

The “original” Cashwool is exclusive to Zegna Baruffa Lane Borgosesia; it is a registered trademark and a reference point for Extrafine Merino yarns all over the world.
