AquariusNylon 6.6 producer Nilit has announced that its high-performance moisture management Aquarius fibre will now be used in winter underwear from TAO Technical-Wear, a leading German sportswear manufacturer.

Nilit says Aquarius represents a significant advancement in nylon 6.6 design that provides moisture management performance. The yarn’s unique shape is actually designed to accelerate the removal of moisture away the body.

Oded  Breier, Nilit’s Marketing and Sales Manager, explains: “Our Aquarius yarn represents a significant advancement in nylon 6.6. Integrating our moisture management yarn into TAO’s Aridus underwear makes high-performing apparel from the inside out.”

In December, TAO sales representatives learned about the polymer and its properties from Alon Weiser, Nilit’s Research Development and Technical Service Manager. “Aquarius has three tiers of moisture management performance,” Weiser explains. “An effective moisture management additive that is permanently embedded throughout the fibre, the fibre’s special cross-section maximizes the wicking surface area, and the fibre’s micro-channels transport moisture away from the body.” These properties make Aquarius an extremely effective moisture management system for seamless sportswear, underwear and activewear, Nilit says.

According to Nilit, because the moisture management mechanism is built into the polymer, there is no need for chemical finishes and Nilit Aquarius delivers a luxurious hand that is important in beautiful, vibrant garments.

Thilo de Ponte, Export Sales Manager TAO Technical Wear explains: “Our high-performing winter underwear for active sports will be a premium product for 2009-2010. One advantage is the fibre, Nilit Aquarius, promises an ideal moisture management, knitted seamless. The other advantage is the zone function system: several function zones for different requirements.”

The underwear will be part of TAO’s 2009-2010 collection. It will be introduced in Europe at the TCM in Zürich in February 2009. Nilit says that Aquarius has proved to be an exciting development in high-performance fibres for major sports brands.
