International Business: new directors for Europe and the Americas

Álvaro Cañete, until now international director for the Americas, will helm the International Division for Europe, replacing Agustín García-Poveda, who will leave the company next July 31 to pursue new professional opportunities. Cañete, 45 years old with a degree in Economics and MDP from IESE, joined the Group in September 2003 as general manager of Kiddy’s Class, and held several management positions at the international business for Europe (United Kingdom, Ireland, Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg) and South America, until in December 2005 he was named international director for the Americas.

Iván Barberá remains in charge of the International Division for Asia, while Ignacio Alija, until now director of the Austrian subsidiary, will take over as head of the International Division for the Americas. Ignacio, 36 years old with a degree in Economics and MBA from INSEAD, arrived at the Group in 2004, and at the end of that year joined Inditex's Central European subsidiary (Austria, Czech Republic, Hungary and Slovakia), where he has been director since January 2006.

All international divisions continue to report directly to First Deputy Chairman and CEO Pablo Isla.
