Interstoff Asia Essential opens its doors next week at the Hong Kong Exhibition and Convention Centre with a programme of 14 seminars, an informative panel discussion on sustainability plus several innovative design talent features. Running for three days, 7 – 9 October, the branded event will present some of the finest eco, fashion and functional fabrics from around the world. More than 200 exhibitors from 12 countries and regions are confirmed, while China, Korea, Japan and Taiwan will host pavilions at the show that are organised by China Chamber of Commerce for Textiles, Korea Fashion Textile Association, Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd and Taiwan Textile Federation respectively.

Retailers and textile suppliers worldwide have been strategising on reducing costs, increasing business and coping with these uncertain times. Huntsman, Lenzing Austria, Toppy Co and the Hong Kong Apparel Society will lead this year’s panel discussion at Interstoff Asia, scheduled for Thursday, 8 October 2009 from 10:00 am – 12:30 pm. This discussion is subject to a nominal fee and seating will be based on a first come, first serve basis.

Another topic of concern, sustainability, will be explored with experts from adidas, Bluesign Technologies AG and a member of the Hong Kong Sustainable Fashion Business Consortium. They will identify sustainable concepts, challenges and opportunities in the textile supply value chain on the afternoon of Thursday 8, October 2009.

Continuing on the hot subject of sustainability, eco-friendly dyeing and chemical solution seminars are confirmed to take place on Friday, 9 October 2009 for the entire day. Leading companies such as BASF, Dystar, Huntsman and Clariant, plus many more will share ecological industry insight, a growing trend among apparel fabrics and textile related professionals.

In addition to gaining valuable insight for successful business, attendees will have the opportunity to take part in a range of colourful and inspirational seminars that will include discussions on design & trends, plus updates on the latest industry technology.

Equally as important and innovative will be a series of platforms promoting both local and international design talent. Six of the most celebrated and best graduating talent from the UK’s Texprint competition will once again return to Interstoff Asia Essential Autumn to present their latest work.

This year’s show will also debut two eco-focused initiatives that will feature creative fashion designs from young and emerging talent: RE:BORN and Ethical Fashion Forum (EFF) Innovation winners plus several fashion designers representing the Hong Kong Designer’s Association.
