Leading fibres and yarn show Expofil, part of the Première Vision Pluriel collection of shows, has announced a 17% increase in the number of participants for its forthcoming edition as compared to the February 2012 show.

“Within the Première Vision Pluriel shows taking place in February 2013 in Paris, Expofil, the international show of yarns and fibres confirms the direction it had already begun as of its last session in September 2012,” organisers said in a statement.

Faithful to its original guiding principle - to promote and develop the upstream textile sector - Expofil is positioned around the segment of yarns intended for circular knits and weaving in response to the  general desire of Première Vision - to present a different and complementary offer at each of its shows.

Supporting this strategy, there has also been a geographic change. Already relocated last September, Expofil maintains its new location in the north of Hall 5 near the platform dedicated to creative knits, Knitwear Solutions, and Indigo, the show for fabric designs.

According to Expofil, bringing these areas and their complementary offers close together facilities the work of visitors. While Expofil proposes yarn and fibre collections for Autumn/Winter 2014/15, Knitwear Solutions presents yarns for the same season as the Première Vision fabrics (spring summer 2014) to fashion brands and designers developing flat bed knit collections.

Repositioning is bearing fruit

Expofil says the repositioning is already bearing fruit, showing a 17% increase in the number of its participants as compared to February 2012.

While exhibitors numbered 36 one year ago, the next edition will have no fewer than 42 exhibitors coming mainly from Europe (Italy, Switzerland), the United States, and Asia (China) - spinners of wool, silk, or cotton, throwsters/texturizers, and fibre producers.

Also notable will be the arrival of 4 new companies, including the Italian spinners TRE G, specialised in regenerated wool and eco-sustainable yarns, and FILOSCOZIA, specialist in very high-quality spun cotton yarns.

The Expofil show will also be paying particular attention to its display, especially the design of its fashion forum. Coordinated by the Première Vision fashion teams and François-Xavier Hérody, the Autumn/ Winter 14/15 fashion directions will be presented in an area dedicated to the idea of connections.

The new season focuses on junctions. It sketches out new and innovative frontiers between the elements that make up the season’s weaves and knits. It showcases the yarn that links and connects, that constructs lightness, modulates irregularities and structures suppleness in three major directions:

Between emptiness and full, with developments combining fineness with thickness

Between solidity and suppleness, with plays on structure and motion

Between contrasts, with strong links between vibrant colours and aspects

Closely tied to this theme, the Expofil forum, designed by Nina Forlani, will display these specially conceived and created developments along with practical and clear information, an index by exhibitor, new products and ‘know-hows’.
