At German Technology Meets Indonesian Textile – Conference and B2B Meetings, 27 leading German textile machinery and accessories manufacturers including Groz-Beckert, Karl Mayer, Mayer & Cie., Merz Maschinenfabrik, Monforts and Bruckner provided delegates from Indonesia and elsewhere in Asia with details of their technical solutions for the developing textiles industry.

Those interested in developing and manufacturing new textile products, wishing to enhance their competitiveness by increasing production efficiency or aiming to improve the quality of their yarns, fibres or fabrics, were all catered for – as were those who place high value on saving energy and material resources in the production process. Delegates were informed about innovative German technology by attending the presentations and by participating in the B2B Matchmaking dialogue, a series of one-to-one 30-minute pre-scheduled meetings.

Speakers presented practise-oriented technology topics related to spinning, knitting, warp-knitting, braiding, weaving, nonwoven, finishing, dyeing machinery, automation solutions, textile testing and measurement and control equipment.

Major application areas covered were garments, home textiles, industrial applications, and technical textiles for the medical, building and automotive industries. Carbon fibre based composites for innovative textile structures with high growth potential were also discussed. In addition, important cross-topics like energy and material efficiency (sustainability), life cycle costs, certification and labelling as well as buyer’s credits (export finance) were also discussed.

Speaking prior to the event, Ade Sudrajat, Chairman of the National Borad of the Indonesian Textile Association said:

“With a population of 250 million people, the textile and garment industry is presently considered as a strategic industry for the Indonesian economy. The third largest manufacturing sector, it is one of the largest employers in Indonesia.”

“With ASEAN Integration coming into effect in 2015, Indonesia would not only be an important consumer but also potentially a manufacturing basis of this commodity. With this economic reality, it is the intention of API to position Indonesia as a centre both for manufacturing and also for sourcing for the textile and garment industry.”

To realize this idea, he said, Indonesia would need support of proper technology in order to serve the best quality into the world. “It is therefore, my pleasure on behalf of Indonesian Textile Association (API) to support “German Technology Meets Indonesian Textile – Conference and B2B Meetings” and encourages all the associated parties including our members to also support,” Mr Sudrajat concluded.
