Teijin Fibers Limited, the core company of the Teijin Group's polyester fibres business, announced today that it will participate in Interfilière Paris 2012, which will be held at Paris Expo Porte de Versailles from July 7 to 9.

Teijin’s exhibit will showcase the company’s increasingly popular initiatives for the global innerwear market, including elk, a urethane-alternative, environmentally friendly, high-performance polyester cushioning material used in bra cups and swimwear, and Nanofront, a high-strength polyester nanofibre that boasts excellent frictional properties, soft texture, and high moisture absorbency and diffusion for added comfort.

Elk is said to be lightweight, durable, cushiony, and breathable and does not yellow easily, making it an ideal cushioning material for bra cups. It is also said to be environmentally friendly because it does not generate cyanogen gas when incinerated. According to Teijin, a growing number of international innerwear brands already use elk.

Nanofront is a high-strength polyester fiber with a thickness of just 700 nanometres, or 7500 times smaller than the cross section of a human hair strand. Nano-sized bumps on the surface of Nanofront are said to raise frictional force and produce a surface area dozens of times greater than that of regular fiber, resulting in superior slip resistance.

Visitors to the Teijin booth will be able to discuss customized solutions by meeting with representatives from Teijin Fibers and its partner, Yao I Fabric Co., Ltd., a Taiwanese moulder.

Interfiliere Paris is the world's leading trade fair for lingerie and beachwear fabrics. Teijin Fibers will appear in the show for the sixth time to further develop its international market for innerwear.

Teijin is a technology-driven global group offering advanced solutions in the areas of sustainable transportation, information and electronics, safety and protection, environment and energy, and healthcare.

Its main fields of operation are high-performance fibres such as aramid, carbon fibres and composites, healthcare, films, resin and plastic processing, polyester fibres, products converting and IT.

The group has around 150 companies and almost 17,000 employees spread out over 20 countries worldwide. It posted consolidated sales of JPY 854.4 billion (USD 10.7 billion) and total assets of JPY 762.1 billion (USD 9.5billion) in the fiscal year ending March 31, 2012.
