Taking place from 6-8 March 2024 at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai), Yarn Expo Spring will provide a platform for top textile players to facilitate the industry’s transition to a circular economy.

The demand for sustainability and transparency across textile production chains has never been stronger, as the market increasingly looks to minimise environmental impacts. Initiatives focusing on recycled and regenerated products are gaining prominence globally, while synthetic fibres are experiencing growth to fulfil this eco-friendly need.

Covering 27,000 square metres, Asia’s leading yarn and fibre sourcing platform, Yarn Expo Spring, will host over 500 exhibitors from 10 countries and regions, set to showcase a range of products across several growing sub-sectors. With advancements across the board, the synthetic fibres market is set to rise to USD 190.4 billion in 2024, following an 8.7% CAGR, driven by the increasing demand for cost-effective fibres, the buoyant textile industry, material science advancement and fibre performance, says show organiser Messe Frankfurt Hong Kong. Innovations like fibre recycling and reuse are also fuelling this growth as they allow synthetic fibres to be repurposed while still balancing functionality with a lower environmental footprint, it says.

The popularity of recycled textiles across various end-use sectors such as clothing, home furnishings, and industrial applications has increased due to the benefits they offer. As collection and reuse systems scale up in Asia-Pacific nations like China, India, and Australia, the recycling market is forecasted to expand 3.1% annually through 2028, reaching USD 6.9 billion, Messe Frankfurt claims.

With sustainability at the forefront, China's ‘Reborn - China Fiber Zero Carbon Action 2023’ initiative launched at last year's Yarn Expo Spring, marked a significant step towards sustainable practices aligned with the country's ‘dual carbon’ strategy. This sets targets for industry players by promoting the expansion of recycled fibre production and usage, aiming to reduce carbon emissions and achieve carbon neutrality across different sectors. The focus on sustainability corresponds with Texpertise Econogy, the new umbrella for sustainability activities at Messe Frankfurt’s more than 50 textile trade shows worldwide.
